I’m Keith Hernandez

I'm Keith Hernandez

I think Keith’s been doing a pretty good job in the booth so far this season for SNY. It never gets annoying to hear him talk about the game or make random comments because they are usually concise and relevant thoughts (unlike someone such as, say, Tim McCarver, whose reference to ‘Pavlov’s dogs seeing the light’ a few years back nearly made my brain explode). Anyway, I caught this article on ESPN.com’s Page 2 that I thought was pretty funny. If you read carefully, it actually almost sounds like a real Seinfeld episode. Let’s hope Keith cuts back the comments about women in the dugout, though, because I’d like to see him stick around.

Jamaica DVD update

This dude is nuts

I’m sure a lot of you are wondering what the deal is with the Jamaica DVD. The good news is that I have about 20 minutes of footage edited together at this point, up to the actual wedding. The bad news is that I have yet to edit the wedding, the golf tournament, and new years. I’m expecting this thing will end up being at least 40 minutes long when it’s all said and done (fingers crossed) but it won’t be boring or dragging at all.

The reason for the delay is that I don’t really have a machine to edit it on - I started on my parents’ iMac using iMovie and originally intended to finish it on the computer labs at RIT. Well, it turns out that it’s been more difficult than I thought to get over to the RIT labs with work and everything else going on. I do want to say that I haven’t forgotten about it and that I will do my best to get it done in a reasonable amount of time. This may end up being perfect, because by about the time you all forget that this thing even is in the works you’ll have it in your mailbox.

For now, please check out this video of the maniac who limbo’d under several poles that were set on fire - this should be new to anyone who left on New Years day or the day after. Enjoy!

I’m not a crook, but I play one on TV

24's President LoganPresident Nixon

I’ve been an avid fan of ‘24′ for quite some time, and despite some recurring melodramatic elements and ridiculous plot holes (mostly in the current season) I continue to be taken in by the story (and excited by Jack Bauer). Something struck me tonight despite hearing it several times before: 24’s President Logan (played by Gregory Itzin, above right) looks nearly identical to ex-Pres and current worm fodder Nixon. It’s uncanny, really. Right down to the receding hairline.

It makes me wonder what real life person Jack Bauer could have been modeled after - probably MacGuyer.

Even the story lines have a certain parallel, although Nixon’s version involves a lot less bloodshed and integrity because it was actually real. It will be interesting to see what happens to Logan over the last 7 episodes of the season, but maybe the writers had the sense to give Logan the punishment that Nixon deserved 30 years ago.
