Giant Choke

thecatch2.jpgOr “Giant Upset”, “Giant Surprise”, or “Nobody’s Perfect”…whatever cliché you wish to place on Super Bowl XLII - it’s up to you. I personally like “Giant Choke” because the Patriots may have actually choked harder than the Bills did against the Giants in Super Bowl XXV.

Are you kidding me with this game? Eli Manning was intercepted AND sacked three times on the last drive, yet somehow all of that turned into a miracle 32 yard one-handed helmet catch by David Tyree (Syracuse football alum) that kind of let you know that karma was on the side of the Giants. As much as I bashed Eli in my last post, I’ve got to say that I was absolutely impressed with his performance not only in this game, but for the entire span of the playoffs. And as much as I can’t root for the Giants (thanks to Scott Norwood), I can’t help but feel good for their entire team right now - they were given pretty much no shot to win this game, but they buckled down and got the job done by putting Brady on his ass over and over again.

This one surely hurts for the Patriots, but I suppose they’ll be able to get over it a little easier by looking at the three rings already on their hands.
