Carm and I went out for a visit to Connecticut last weekend to see baby Maya who seems to be doing very well. She had her fussy moments, but she was just ripped out of her dark, snug little world only 21 days ago - what can ya do? She tires easily of this harsh, unforgiving world and she sure as hell is gonna let you know about it.
Matt and Rachel seem to be doing a terrific job even if they claim to just be winging it. Hopefully she’ll be big enough soon to wear the pink Mets onesies I got for her - luckily she’s too young to understand how awfully mediocre they are. Maya is obviously quite loved and in a great situation. As the guardian I’m taking notes guys!
Somehow over the last 2 years or so I’d forgotten how good Dave Matthews Band is live- stale setlists and weak performances tend to do that. However, apparently all you have to do is just add in a little Tim Reynolds to any Dave Matthews recipe in order for it to be a success. We had a great time last weekend and we wish we were hitting up a few more shows, but such is life. Here’s #40 - the first time played full band in over a decade - from Saturday night’s show:
Well if you read this site (or bartstew.com) with any regularity you know that it’s me. Maya Theresa was born at 2:13am on June 8th and she has a lifetime of spoilage ahead of her. And honestly, look at this picture - how could you not spoil a kid as adorable as her? She even has a Bartley nose! Beautiful… now Matt and Rachel can start the hard part, with occasional breaks provided by Uncle Chris and Tita Carmy.
Interesting sidenote- Maya’s birthday coincides with Carm’s sister Bella’s birthday. It also now coincides with the exact day I realized the Mets are nothing but a joke of a team. Good times, Maya! Maybe you’ll see the Mets win a World Series sometime in your lifetime if they’re even halfway good enough for you to care about them. Whatever the case may be just don’t be a Yankee fan, please!
